So you want to live and work in Japan.
What do you need to know?
Well, first thing you have to understand is that Japan has a unique culture. Being a small island with a large
population, their culture has developed to allow them to live together in harmony.
I`m sure you have seen how crowded the trains and buses are during peak hours, yet no-one is fighting with anyone else. In other countries, someone trying to force his way into an already packed train would result in a fight!
But not here. Everyone understands and tries their best to get on with it.
It might seem strange but it works. Would you rather be travelling every day wondering if a something will happen on the transport network that will make your day unpleasant, or just go with the flow and make the most of your day?
We may find many things strange as foreigners, but it is their country and we are guests here. In it`s own way, it works. We get to enjoy relative safety and pleasantness for a little bit of understanding and compromise.
One of the joys of Japan is that you are actually appreciated for being a foreigner. They are willing to make allowances for you that you would never get in any other country. The Japanese go more out of their way to accommodate and help a foreigner than almost any other country in the world. Imagine that! Enjoy it!
