作文はどのように書けばよいですか? How do I write my composition?

A. 採用試験では、皆さんの人柄や日本語力を確認するために、作文が出題されることがよくあります。皆さん、一生懸命書いていますが、どうも出題者の意図を理解していないケースが多く見受けられます。

In the recruitment examination, composition is frequently asked for to confirm your personality and Japanese ability. Everyone, you write so hard, but there are many cases where students do not understand the intentions of the questioner.

短い作文を書く際のアドバイスをお教えします。

I will give you advice on writing a short composition.

簡単ですので、覚えて練習してみて下さい。

It is easy so please remember to practise.

まず、出題者は何を求めていると思いますか?それは、
 1.論理的に物事を考え、表現する力
 2.課題(Subject)を理解し、「自分の意見」をまとめる力
です。

First of all, what do you think the questioner is asking of you? That is,

  1. The ability to think and express yourself logically
  2. Ability to understand the subject(課題) and to summarise ‘your opinion’.

なによりも重要なことは、伝えたいことを『ポイント』で決めること。

The most important thing is to decide what points you want to convey.

ぼんやりとではダメです。

It is no good to be aimless or vague.

伝えたいことを輝かせる(印象に残す)ために絶対に必要です。

It is absolutely necessary to make what you want to convey stand out (leave an impression).

そこで、さらに意識しなくてはならないことは、

試験官は、何百人もの作文を読まなくてはならないことです。

So what you have to be aware of is that the examiner has to read hundreds of Essays.

つまり、何度も読み返してあなたの作文を理解しようとはしないのです。

In other words, he will not read over and over again to try to understand your composition.

さまざまなことを数分の間(ときには数十秒)で判断します。

He will judge various things within the space of a few minutes (or even seconds).

つまり指定の文字数で、読み手が直ぐに理解できる文章が必要です。

In other words, you have to draft a sentence with the specified number of characters that the reader can immediately understand.

留学生の皆さんへの「短い文章」を書く際のアドバイスは、

下記の3ステップです。

The following three steps are advice for international students on how to write ‘short sentences’.

 1ステップ:結論を始めにしっかり示すこと

To show the conclusion firmly at the beginning

 第2ステップ:自分の経験をリアルに伝えること

To communicate your actual experiences

 第3ステップ:自分の「感動」「感じたこと」を大きく表現すること

To express your ‘emotions’ and ‘feelings’ in a large way

そして、伝えたい言葉には「」(かぎかっこ)を付けることです。

And put the words you want to convey in Japanese style brackets「」(kagikakko).

学校では、起承転結で文章を作るように習ったかと思いますが、

数百文字程度の採用試験における作文の場合には、

上記のようなステップの方が、強い印象を残せるので、

是非実践して下さい。

In school, I think we were taught to make sentences with an introduction and a conclusion, but in the case of writing a composition during a hiring test using hundreds of characters or more, the steps like the ones above can leave a strong impression so please practise it by all means.
